The Kuwaiti Ministry on Thursday (March 5) confirmed two more coronavirus cases, which brings the Gulf state’s total count up to 58.
According to the report from the ministry, the two new cases identified were both women who recently returned from Iran.
2 New Confirmed Coronavirus Cases Reported in Kuwait
Both female Kuwaitis were admitted into intensive care on Wednesday (March 4) and are receiving appropriate medical care in isolation, as shared in a report by the Kuwait News Agency.
According to the Kuwait Health Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health, Dr. Butheina Al-Mudhaf that while both women were already receiving necessary care at an undisclosed medical facility, one is still in critical condition while the other is steadily recovering.
Meanwhile, she noted that all other quarantined cases are stable and fine. Dr. Butheina also shared that the health ministry held a meeting on Wednesday to weigh precautions taken to manage the spread of coronavirus in the country as well as in the region.
Meanwhile, other neighboring countries to Kuwait such as Saudi Arabia, Oman, the UAE, Bahrain, and Qatar have shared various updates regarding the situation of coronavirus infections in their respective countries.
According to a report by the Saudi Press Agency, the cases in the Kingdom remains relatively low at five. This includes a couple where the husband returned from Iran but did not disclose his travel to Iran upon his return to Saudi Arabia via Kuwait.
The newly diagnosed individual had accompanied the earlier infected in travel and just like what the man did, he also did not disclose his travel to Iran.
The ministry, however, assured the public that the case is currently isolated and is being monitored in the hospital, and provided with the medical care in line with approved health procedures.
All contacts of the infected person have already been identified, and samples were taken from them for examination. The results of which will be announced upon completion of the tests.
In Oman and Qatar, the total numbers of confirmed cases reported were 12 and 8 respectively, as of March 4.
Meanwhile, in Bahrain, of the 49 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country, the Ministry of Health announced the recovery of four individuals, as shared in a report by the Bahrain News Agency.
Furthermore, the ministry assured the public that all individuals under isolation have undergone extensive medical testing to ensure their recovery from the virus before being discharged.
And as for the UAE, health officials reported six new coronavirus cases on Tuesday (March 3), bringing the total of cases up to 27, with the addition of confirmed cases of a student and a parent on Wednesday as per the Dubai Health Authority.
The coronaviruses (CoV) form a large family of viruses that can cause mild colds to severe pneumonia in humans. Other types of this virus can cause a variety of infectious diseases in animals, as well.
Coronaviruses are transmitted between animals and humans.
Coronaviruses include the MERS coronavirus (MERS-CoV), which first appeared in 2012, and the deadly SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV), which hit epidemic levels back in 2003.
