DMW Reports Php 1.01 Billion Assistance Given to OFWs

The Department of Migrant Workers has reported that the Philippine government has provided Php 1.01 billion worth of assistance and support to OFWs affected by crises, emergencies, and other difficulties overseas.

The assistance falls under government efforts connected with UPLIFT, including its “Saving Lives” component.

For OFWs in Kuwait, the figures show how assistance can cover several stages, from help while workers are abroad to repatriation and support after returning to the Philippines.

14,134 OFWs Safely Repatriated

According to DMW figures as of September 25, 14,134 OFWs had been repatriated from 16 countries.

The government deployed 398 flights in connection with repatriation operations.

DMW and its partner agencies also delivered a total of 161,034 services and forms of assistance.

Where the Php 1.01 Billion Went

Around Php 732.8 million was used for onsite assistance.

This included services connected with repatriation, airfare, and work-related cases.

Another Php 244.1 million was spent on post-arrival assistance.

Returning workers could receive help such as financial assistance, food, shelter, airfare, and transportation depending on their circumstances.

The remaining Php 33.9 million went toward reintegration assistance.

Support Does Not End After Repatriation

DMW reported that 16,701 OFWs received reintegration assistance.

These services included job facilitation, training, livelihood support, and medical or psychosocial assistance.

What Kuwait OFWs Should Know

The Php 1.01 billion is a cumulative figure for assistance already provided.

It does not mean that every OFW is entitled to a fixed cash amount.

Filipinos in Kuwait who are facing job-related distress, emergency situations, repatriation concerns, or other welfare problems should coordinate with official DMW or Philippine Migrant Workers Office channels to learn which services may apply to them.
