More than Php 304 million in aid and services reached 10,177 overseas Filipino workers and their families under the 2026 Handog ng Pangulo program, according to figures from the September 14 nationwide activity.
The combined effort by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) totaled Php 304,103,971.24. The wider program brought several government agencies together to deliver employment, livelihood, welfare, health, and education services across the Philippines.
Breaking Down the Numbers
The support came through two main agencies:
- DMW — about Php 214.34 million for 5,449 beneficiaries
- OWWA — about Php 89.77 million for 4,728 beneficiaries
Together, they accounted for the bulk of the day’s assistance to OFWs and their families.
Where DMW’s Support Went
Most of the DMW’s aid moved through the AKSYON Fund, which reached 3,116 beneficiaries with roughly Php 181.43 million. Another Php 32.9 million went to livelihood assistance benefiting about 2,149 people.
The department also provided medical assistance, livelihood awards, OFW help desks, and employment-related services during the activity.
Where OWWA’s Support Went
OWWA’s largest program was Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay, which assisted 2,627 beneficiaries with about Php 43.7 million. A further 1,731 people received help through the Welfare Assistance Program.
The agency also extended disability and death benefits, scholarships, livelihood support, and other reintegration services to OFWs and their families.
The figures show that government support goes beyond emergency cash aid. Assistance may also cover livelihood, education, welfare, and reintegration help, depending on eligibility.
