Getting around in Kuwait is relatively easy if you have a car. Since there aren’t a lot of public transportation options other than taxis and buses here, car rental is quite common and can prove to be practical, especially for visitors staying for a short period of time.

In line with this, the government has also helped car rental companies set up their offices in strategic locations such as in a number of hotels and in the Kuwait Airport.
Renting a Car in Kuwait
While it’s quite safe to say that renting a car in Kuwait is quite easy to do, there are still requirements that must be met before you rent a car in the country.
Here are the requirements:
- Must be 18 years old and above.
- An international driving license (for expats on a visit visa).
Important: Take note that national licenses issued by your home country will not be acknowledged. And even if you have an international driving license, you will still need to get a Kuwaiti license if you plan to drive in the country for a longer period.
