Pinay Maid Attempts End Life, Claims Abuse Behind Suicide Bid Her condition improved after nine days in a coma, and police investigators went to the hospital to question her. She claimed that her employer, who works at a private medical center in Kuwait, frequently abused her and that she had previously attempted but failed to escape, according to a report by Gulf News. Authorities arrested the sponsor in order to question her about the maid's allegations. As the Kuwaiti government reopened its borders to migrant workers, including those from the Philippines, to work as domestic helpers in the Gulf State amid the ongoing pandemic, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) sought to improve such conditions by allowing these Filipino employees to report such incidents directly to their office in order for them to be investigated and receive immediate assistance.
