Central Bank of Kuwait Launches Kuwait Wage Payment System (KWPS) to Monitor Workers’ Salary

Private-sector workers in Kuwait, including Filipino employees, may benefit from closer monitoring of salary payments following the launch of the new Kuwait Wage Payment System (KWPS).

The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) officially launched KWPS on September 28, 2026 as a national platform for processing and monitoring private-sector wage transfers through local banks.

The system allows salaries to be paid electronically while giving authorities tools to track wage payments and identify possible non-compliance earlier.

Salary Transfers Can Be Monitored Electronically

Under KWPS, private-sector wage transfers made through local banks can be processed and monitored through one national system.

The Central Bank will handle the technical and operational management of KWPS.

Meanwhile, Kuwait’s Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) will supervise employers and monitor their compliance with wage protection requirements.

For workers, one important feature is the ability of authorities to electronically track wage payments.

CBK said KWPS allows regulators to conduct real-time monitoring and early detection of non-compliance with wage disbursement.

This gives authorities better data to identify potential problems with salary payments.

Faster and More Transparent Wage Payments

KWPS is also designed to improve the speed, efficiency and transparency of salary payments made through Kuwait’s local banks.

The system reduces manual procedures while improving the quality and exchange of wage-related data among concerned government authorities.

It also encourages greater use of banking services and electronic payment methods.

The platform follows the ISO 20022 international standard used for electronic financial messaging.

What This Means for Filipino Workers

For Filipino employees in Kuwait’s private sector, the new system does not mean workers need to download a new salary app or personally register for KWPS based on the information announced by CBK.

Instead, KWPS operates as part of the country’s wage-payment infrastructure involving employers, local banks, CBK and PAM.

Its main benefit to workers is stronger electronic oversight of how employers handle salary payments.

CBK’s announcement did not provide a separate procedure for employees to check their own salary records through KWPS, so workers should not assume that a public employee portal is already available.

Kuwait Continues Digital Payment Upgrades

KWPS is the third system launched under the second phase of the Kuwait National Payments System project.

Kuwait launched the Kuwait Automated Clearing House in January 2026, followed by the Kuwait Dispute Management System in February. KWPS followed in September.

For now, private-sector employees should continue using existing official channels for employment concerns while watching for further guidance from CBK or PAM on how KWPS will affect wage-related procedures.
